To clarify...

...ok so looking at the reviews for Pocket Alan 1 it seems a lot of people are unhappy with the new update.

Yes it was an update to advertise Pocket Alan 2. Sorry if this offends but I wanted to release Pocket Alan 2 and obviously I want it to do well.

This does not mean that Pocket Alan 1 has been abandoned. In fact version 1.4 has already been posted to iTunes connect and hopefully should be released in the next few days. It contains 20 new Alan sounds.

Version 1.5 is going to contain more new sounds finishing off the requests from people I have had via Twitter and reviews.

Version 1.6 will most likely be the last update but will contain the ability to download the sounds as message alerts and ringtones. (I could do this in 1.5 but it's taking me a while to get my head around it and it will require an entire interface update).

Many of you are arguing that the sounds in Pocket Alan 2 could be incorporated into Pocket Alan 1...yes and no. Pocket Alan will pass the 10mb mark on the next update making it wifi and itunes only. There are memory limitations which I am not skilled enough to get around and the loading times increase with the amount of sounds added to the apps data bundle if it takes too long apple reject the app. Gone would be the quick app opening and access and I would have to add a splash screen, loading screen and there would be a delay between pages and lag between sounds.

Pocket Alan 2 is focusing more on the other characters, I threw Alan sounds in there to make the first release worthwhile until I know what other character sounds people want in PA 2. The Alan sounds have been added to PA 1.4 and I will remove them from PA2 and use that screen for Lynn etc.

Anyway in a nutshell. If you want Alan sounds, and you want more of them then the updates for Pocket Alan 1 will still come in thick and fast, if you want the other characters then buy Pocket Alan 2. If you think it's a cash in then just don't buy it, it's as simple as that. You haven't been ripped off, for 59p you are still going to get all of the updates and attention that I promised, and for £1.18 you will get quality for both. Many soundboard apps are charging this rate for a single app these days so not such a big deal.

Pocket Alan 1.3 was perhaps a bit cheeky of me but I've moved to rectify that already.

Take care and thanks everyone,

- Tim.

Pocket Alan 2!

Due to the overwhelming number of requests for sounds and features I have decided to release a sequel to Pocket Alan, aptly named Pocket Alan 2.

It will cost another 59p and contains the voices of Michael, Sonya, Lynn, Dan, Jed and a few others.

It also contains bonus Alan sounds.

The idea behind the new app is to make the two apps interactive. Although version 1.0 doesn't really work like this for now I intend to make it so you can have custom Alan conversations by using Pocket Alan along side a friend using Pocket Alan 2.

If Pocket Alan 2 is a success and enough people like the idea I will use your suggestions to reconfigure the apps for this to work. I will be updating both apps simultaneously (something a lot easier to do on the app store these days).

One apology I have to make about Pocket Alan 2 is the size of the app. I have used much clearer, cleaner and louder sounds, naturally this has pushed the app size beyond the 3G threshold so I would appreciate if you would remember the app and download it when you can.

Pocket Alan Sound Support

For those reporting issues with sound.

I have been told that this is a problem with app store not delivering the full content of the app or installing it incorrectly. It is not a problem with the code.

There are two known remedies for this.

1. Downloading the app via iTunes and doing a re-sync.
2. Installing the app and doing a full restart before use.
3. Make sure that the keypad tones on your iPhone are enabled. Pocket Alan is coded to take advantage of the same software the iPhone uses for basic sounds, this makes coding and app loading a lot faster. With them muted, the sounds won't work.

If the problem persists please contact apple with the problem.
